Atrica Selects Xelerated’s Network Processor for its Carrier Ethernet Products

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA, July 13, 2005 - Xelerated, the price/performance leader in network processing, today announced that its XeleratorTM X11 network processor has been selected by Atrica for next-generation Carrier Ethernet products designed to support true carrier-class networks.

"The X11 is the only network processor that meets our strict scalability, availability and manageability requirements, while still delivering the cost-performance benefits of Ethernet," said Yoav Kluger, Chief Technology Officer of Atrica. "Its focused architecture provides the flexibility we need while eliminating the costs associated with unnecessary complexity. "

"Winning Atrica as a customer is a major proof point of the strength of Xelerated's Carrier Ethernet solutions," said Michael Howard, principal analyst at Infonetics Research. "This puts Xelerated in a position to be a substantial player in this high-growth market-Infonetics expects the Carrier Ethernet equipment portion to reach $2.7 billion in 2008 as operators become more focused on selling and marketing Ethernet-based services."

The platform wide decision by Atrica enables them to follow emerging standards without compromising performance and without disrupting traffic during updates. The 20G full duplex throughput of the X11 gives Atrica the highest Ethernet port density of any programmable Ethernet product on the market.

"Atrica is one of the leading suppliers of Carrier Ethernet equipment for next-generation networks and with our network processors they can build true carrier-class Ethernet solutions," said Thomas Eklund, Vice President of Business Development and EMEA Sales at Xelerated. "Our network processors have been selected for over 15 customer designs based on their superior carrier-class features and price/performance advantages," he concludes.

The Xelerated X11 network processor chosen by Atrica is the industry's first network processor optimized for mission-critical Ethernet applications such as Carrier Ethernet. The X11's unique, highly focused, data flow architecture provides the flexibility necessary to track changing standards and the different requirements of multiple geographies without adding the unnecessary complexity that increases costs and development time and reduces reliability, predictability and performance.
