Former C-Port/Motorola Executive Joins Xelerated

Headquarters relocated to Burlington, Mass.

BURLINGTON, Mass., Sept 16, 2002 - Xelerated, the leading developer of high performance network processors and traffic managers, today announced that Gary Lidington has joined the company as Vice President of Marketing. Mr Lidington brings over 20 years of experience in the networking and computer industries, including four years in network processing. This recruitment is part of Xelerated's continued US expansion. He will be based at the company's new headquarters in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Gary Lidington has worked in leadership positions at both start-ups and more established companies. Prior to joining Xelerated, Mr Lidington was VP of Business Development at C-Port, a pioneer in the network processor industry, which was acquired by Motorola in 2000. He has also held key management positions at Shiva Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation.

As C-Port's first marketing employee, Mr Lidington contributed to the early definition and positioning of C-Port's network processor. He created C-Port's and the industry's first formal partner program. He was also active in the development and promotion of open standards for network processors, first as a charter member of CSIX (Common Switch Interface Forum) and later as a co-founder and director of CPIX (Common Programming Interface Forum), organizations which eventually merged to become the Network Processor Forum.

"Gary strengthens and complements our management team in the best possible way," said Johan Börje, CEO. "Gary's extensive knowledge of the network processing industry, as well as his record of success at C-Port will be a tremendous asset for Xelerated. We are very pleased that Gary has joined Xelerated, and the timing is perfect, as we will be shipping our first network processors later this year."

According to Mr Lidington, "It was Xelerated's innovative architecture and its outstanding team that attracted me to the company. Their programmable data flow architecture, optimized for L2-L4 processing, is an order of magnitude more efficient than traditional network processors at these tasks, and a perfect complement to emerging high performance integrated communications processors for L4-L7 processing."

Xelerated's headquarters, originally located in Stockholm, where the company was founded, has now been relocated to Burlington, Massachusetts, with a satellite office in San Jose, California. Xelerated's CEO, Johan Börje, and Thomas Eklund, co-founder and VP of Business Development, are relocating from Sweden to the new headquarters. Ted Weatherford, Senior Manager of Marketing and Sales, joined the company earlier this year in its Burlington office, while Chris Dierkes, Director of Sales, recently joined the San Jose office. Both Mr Weatherford and Mr Dierkes are former Zettacom employees.
