STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - January 17, 2002. Xelerated, leading the development of high-performance network processors, today announced the availability of its XeleratorTM Development Tools and Engineering Services. Xelerated's product offering targets service provider edge and core networking equipment vendors.
The XeleratorTM Development Tools enable system designers to both evaluate the XeleratorTM Network Processors, and develop their own network processor applications, such as MPLS, IPv4 and IPv6 as well as more advanced traffic handling, for example statistics collection for billing and SLA management. The XeleratorTM Engineering Services constitute a broad offering, targeted at giving system designers dedicated support in developing and deploying system solutions based on Xelerated's software and hardware products.
"We have received great customer interest. Our flexible product offering allows our customers to build line-card solutions with anything from 1 to 4 ports of 10 Gbps. This immediately positions us for the 10 Gbps market, as well as for the 40 Gbps market," said Johan Börje, CEO of Xelerated. "Using our tools, customers can now begin to develop applications and start their integration work early. The results of these efforts can then be reused for the final target product, thereby significantly reducing time-to-market and development costs."
The first version of the tools chain includes a debugger/simulator and an assembler/linker, as well as MPLS, IPv4 and IPv6 network processor applications. It provides a clock-cycle accurate simulation of the XeleratorTM X40 Packet Processor and an interface for control plane interaction.
Joachim Roos, VP of Engineering at Xelerated said: "Customers are particularly enthusiastic about the inherent wire-speed performance of our networkprocessor architecture, as well as our straightforward programming model. No loadbalancing of program threads nor interaction with any embedded operating system is required."
Xelerated's support package, the XeleratorTM Engineering Services, includes maintenance, training and consultancy services. The XeleratorTM Development Tools and Engineering Services are available now. Xelerated's packet processor, the XeleratorTM X40, will be rolled out during Q2 this year.
The company today also announced that as of now it is operating under the name of Xelerated (formerly Xelerated Packet Devices). A new logotype, for press use only or usable if authorized by Xelerated, is available at www.xelerated.com
About Xelerated
Xelerated (formerly Xelerated Packet Devices) is a privately held company founded in August 2000 developing network processors and associated software for manufacturers of high-capacity edge and core networking equipment. In June this year Xelerated announced its network-processor product family targeted at 10-40 Gbps solutions and providing system vendors with a unique ability to differentiate themselves from their competitors through extensive application programmability without compromising wire-speed performance.
