Xelerated Packet Devices and IDT Form Strategic Alliance

SANTA CLARA, Calif., October 22, 2001 - IDT (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading communications IC provider, and Xelerated Packet Devices, a leading developer of high-performance network processors, today announced a strategic alliance. The two companies will co-develop solutions based on the recently announced XeleratorTM family of network processors and IDT's family of Internet protocol (IP) co-processors to enable high-performance line-card solutions for edge and core networking equipment. The collaboration will help speed the availability of off-the-shelf solutions for 40 Gbps dataplane applications.

The objective of Xelerated's First-to-FortyTM partnership program is to enable system vendors to ship the world's first complete 40 Gbps full-duplex systems during the second half of 2002 and provide a virtual "one-stop-shop" for system vendors with best-in-class components from different vendors.

"IDT is solidly positioned in the packet processing market by supplying a wide range of components including integrated communications processors, IP co-processors, telecom components, FIFOs and clock management devices," said Rick Kepple, IDT's vice president of strategic marketing. "IDT chose to collaborate with Xelerated Packed Devices as the partnership enables the development and deployment of system solutions that meet the rigorous demands for new generation 10Gbit and 40Gbit core and edge router systems."

IDT and Xelerated have designed a development line card in order to verify interoperability between IDT's 64Kx72 IP co-processor (75P52100) and Xelerated's X40 Packet Processor. The development line card will enable system designers to verify wire-speed processing in applications such as core and edge routers, guaranteed quality of service, virtual private networks, and voice over Internet protocol.

"We are pleased to announce IDT, the recognized leader in volume shipments of CAM-based IP co-processors, as a First-to-Forty partner. IDT's experience in packet processing is reflected in their tightly integrated CAM and SRAM solution," said Thomas Eklund, director of business development, Xelerated Packet Devices. Together we offer compelling OC-768 solutions with significantly reduced line-card complexity. The Xelerator X40 Packet Processor offers glueless integration with IDT's IP co-processor and SRAM via a programmable Look Aside Interface."

IDT IP Co-ProcessorsIDT is the volume shipment leader of ternary IP co-processors. By integrating content addressable memory (CAM) technology with high-performance logic, IDT provides IP co-processing solutions to accelerate high-performance forwarding and deep packet classification as well as policy-based applications. IDT's IP co-processor family is comprised of a hardware-based parallel search engines that assist application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), network processor units (NPUs), and classification processors. IDT's IP co-processor products, coupled with an NPU or classifier, provide an order of magnitude system performance improvement over stand-alone NPU solutions.

XeleratorTM Network ProcessorsIn June, Xelerated introduced its network-processor product family targeted at 10 to 40 Gbps line speeds for Edge and Core networking equipment. Xelerated's products, available during early 2002, will provide system vendors with a unique ability to differentiate themselves from their competitors through extensive application programmability without compromising wire-speed performance.
