SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA October 11, 2005 - Xelerated, the price/performance leader in network processing, announced today that they will demonstrate the triple play capabilities of the X11 at the Network Systems Design Conference in San Jose, Calif. next week. The demonstration will feature the Xelerated X11 Reference Design Kit, now available to customers.
At the annual Network Systems Design Conference (NSDC) next week Xelerated will demonstrate its capabilities in triple play networks by showing the X11 running multicast traffic with guaranteed Quality of Service. The demonstration also shows full interoperability between Xelerated's X11 network processor and Dune Networks FAP20V traffic manager, including sophisticated unicast and multicast flow control between the two devices.
The demonstration will be presented on Xelerated's Reference Design Board, part of the company's X11 Reference Design Kit (RDK) now available to customers. The RDK is a fully integrated, modular reference platform used by customers to speed the development of applications and systems based on the X11 NPU. Its modular design supports up to 24 GE or four 10GE ports, a plug-in host CPU and an optional traffic manager board all in a compact 1U form factor.
"By combining 24 GE ports, multicast capability with guaranteed QoS and a carrier-class architecture, the X11 enables cost-effective support of triple play services," says Gary Lidington, VP of marketing of Xelerated. "This is a critical requirement for carrier Ethernet systems."
The X11 network processor is a 20G full-duplex device designed to handle mission-critical metro Ethernet applications. Based on Xelerated's data-flow technology that in a unique way combines high-performance and programmability the X11 network processor enable system vendors to build carrier-class equipment with a competitive price point. Earlier this year, for example, Xelerated exhibited the industry's first demonstration of a hitless in-service forwarding plane upgrade. While running traffic at wire-speed an example application was upgraded to support VPLS without dropping any packets.
The X11 carrier-class Ethernet solution will be shown in Xelerated's booth #300 at the Network Systems Design Conference exhibition in San Jose, California, October 19-20, 2005.
