Xelerated’s X10q Receives Prestigious Industry Award

BURLINGTON, Massachusetts, February 24, 2004 - Xelerated's X10q family of network processors - the industry's only programmable 40 Gbps network processors - has been awarded the Microprocessor Report Analysts' Choice Award for Best Extreme Processor 2003. The award winners are recognized by the industry analysts for excellence in technology innovation, design and implementation.

"We believe the best extreme processor available today is the XeleratorTM X10q. It earns this title for its extreme yet focused design, which doesn't allow complexity to obscure its utility," said Tom Halfhill, senior editor of Microprocessor Report. "Despite the X10q's architectural complexity, we believe that programming it effectively will be relatively easy, at least by the standards of extreme processors and other NPU's."

The Microprocessor Report Analysts' Choice Awards honors the best new microprocessor chips and the most promising new microprocessor technology released in 2003. The award winners were selected by In-Stat/MDR's technology analysts, the team behind the internationally recognized newsletter Microprocessor Report and the annual Microprocessor and Embedded Processor Forums.

"We are honored to be the first NPU to be selected as the Best Extreme Processor," said Gary Lidington, VP Marketing of Xelerated. "This further validates our radical approach to solving some of the problems that plague traditional NPU architectures".

The company's first generation of network processors, the XeleratorTM X10q family, is based on an innovative, patent pending, data flow architecture. The efficiency of the data flow architecture sets a new standard for cost/performance, delivering 40 Gbps of wire speed throughput while dissipating less than 10 Watts and costing only $490. This enables the X10q to cost effectively support value added features for high density Gigabit Ethernet applications in both the Enterprise and data aware transport markets. The programmability of the X10q allows future-proof support of a wide range of range of emerging protocols including IPv6/MPLS/VPLS and their associated transition/translation mechanisms.
