AX Family of Programmable Ethernet Switches

The AX family of programmable Ethernet switches represents a new type of devices targeting the evolving market for unified fiber access. The AX chips combine a shared non-blocking Ethernet switch with a programmable pipeline to enable feature flexibility and unified subscriber and service provisioning methods.

Switch-on-a-chip

By integrating Ethernet PHY and MAC, switching, programmable packet processing and traffic management into a single chip, the new fiber access infrastructure can be built for advanced high-speed broadband services at a fraction of the cost compared to copper-based access platforms.

System vendors looking to capture new business opportunities in the unified fiber access market can customize their solutions and provide a range of platforms based on the same forwarding chips and data plane software.

The AX family of programmable Ethernet switches includes Xelerated's Precision Time Solution with leading support for Synchronous Ethernet and PTP. All devices come with an option to support industrial-range temperature for hardend environments such as street cabinets.

Product Options

The AX family consists of four devices: AX340, AX310, AX240, and AX210. They differ in capacity and in traffic management capabilities.

Design Example

OLT Access Line Card featuring integrated traffic management for assymetrical upstream and downstream user traffic.
