Metro Ethernet Solutions
Providing the Highest Levels of Integration and Service Densities
Xelerated provides network processors (NPUs), software and design services for Metro Ethernet switching and IP/MPLS routing platforms. The X11 and the HX families of NPUs are highly-optimized devices for carrier-class Ethernet switching and IP/MPLS routing platforms. The MEA data plane software provides feature-rich implementation of standards defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), the Broadband Forum, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

Xelerated network processors and data plane software targets the complete range of Metro Ethernet and Routing systems, from aggregation and service edge to the metro core.
Xelerated’s Metro Ethernet solutions include technologies by complementary solutions partners, and can be fully customized to vendor specific designs.
The architecture is control plane OS independent. Advanced traffic management with large packet buffers and extensive memories for tables, counters and meters enable a range of network services, such as stateful session policy enforcement and seamless interworking with subscriber and service provisioning tools.
Xelerated Metro Ethernet solutions target a wide range of platforms, from cost-optimized Metro Ethernet aggregation pizza boxes to chassis-based service edge Ethernet/IP/MPLS routers.
Xelerated provides Metro Ethernet solutions based on Carrier Ethernet network processors, data plane software and solution services and partner products.
Pizza boxes can be designed for stacking configurations, utilizing Xelerated’s QMAP protocol. Line cards to high-density chassis-based systems can be designed to connect to merchant or proprietary fabric interfaces though Interlaken.
To accommodate high aggregation capabilities at low cost, Xelerated offers a range of design options for small to medium-sized chassis. These systems utilize NPU deterministic processing for distributed switching between line cards or interface modules.

Designs Examples
Modular High-density Chassis

Modular I/O Cards

Chassis-based solution with flexible port interface (I/O) cards. The line cards connect with redundant paths to a centralized switch fabric. Each line card features a common design based on the HX NPU. Note: Port I/O cards in this example show a small set of possible configurations.
100GE Line Card

100GE line card using 100G Interlaken on system fabric and line interfaces. Uni-directional NPU board design allows for wirepeed performance of 100 Gbps.
200 Gbps Line Card Design Sample

200 Gbps traffic line card with flexible I/O port cards.
50 Gbps Service Line Card

Service line card featuring integrated traffic management and deep packet buffers stored in DRAM memory.
Aggregation Chassis

Aggregation chassis where the system switching is performed by the network processors distributed on the line cards. HX330 features integrated traffic management.
